What is Model United Nations?

Model United Nations (MUN) is an international academic association of university students who address world affairs by running academic simulations of the United Nations.  The goal of MUN is to educate participants about current events, topics in international relations and diplomacy and the United Nations agenda. MUN competitions are referred to as conferences, and participants are divided into various committees to discuss different international issues. Participants in each MUN committee represent countries from around the world in open debate, moderated caucus, and formal addresses to the assembly, according to the conduct of the real-world United Nations. At MUN conferences, participants are judged based on their accurate representation of their country’s interests and foreign policy, in addition to their public speaking, diplomatic and negotiating skills.
